Story and who made it: Soft Floating in the Fields of Spheres
Story or subject
The story follows Rebecca, a young ceramic artist who falls into a coma after a serious car accident in Paris. As doctors fight to keep her alive, the physical world begins to dissolve around her. Suspended between life and death, Rebecca’s consciousness drifts into a space between existence and nothingness. On this inner journey, she relives real memories from her past while confronting the present and the possibilities of imagined futures that were never lived. The film’s narrative is built upon Albert Einstein’s famous scientific proposition that the distinction between past, present and future is merely a stubbornly persistent illusion. Through visual poetry and a non-linear narrative structure, Peter Korday’s direction brings this inner, transcendent pilgrimage to the screen.
Who made it
Soft Floating in the Fields of Spheres marks the feature debut of Paris-based French-Hungarian filmmaker Peter Korday, whose work is defined by visual storytelling, poetic minimalism and non-linear narrative. Korday previously directed theatre in Los Angeles and several award-winning short films, including The Necklace, and is currently developing a new psychological drama set in Paris. The film was written by Kristina Lorent, who also stars as Rebecca and co-produced the film with Korday through Gold Wood Pictures. Lorent is a Paris-based French-Hungarian actress whose work spans both the American and European film worlds.
